The University doesn't have any software for screen-casting. One option is to buy a license for Camtasia, a user-friendly screen capture and recording software. It is $169 for the educational license but does have a free trial mode.
@Peter That helps for the license key and I might be able to dig up other transform data and force it via Config Baselines like I do for other apps. My major question is why do that when the Publishing Service already has built in MST support for MSI installs?

If registering with the license key is what you are missing, you can still accomplish this seamlessly with the EXE. You need to create two files. One is the RegInfo.ini file you can get from one machine with it registered under C:\ProgramData\TechSmith\Snagit ##, where the ## is the version year. The second is a PowerShell script that copies the INI file mentioned to that same folder on the destination device.
When you deploy any paid software, you are most worried about licensing. You cannot pass the key to users because it might be used for personal use. Using Techsmith deployment tool, you can customize Snagit installation. In addition you can also specify the license info. This tool works only with Techsmith products.
We have packaged Snagit 19 and now we are currently provisioning Snagit 2020 via an appstack and have no issues whatsoever. One thing to mention here is that we have customized our installer to include license number, disable autoupdate, startup etc using Techsmith's Deployment Tool, where you load the msi and modify the installer
Anybody have any issues where Snagit is referencing the specific user account datstore location from when you captured it? We typically use the msi/mst for deployment and I was using same for packaging for App Volumes. I was using it fine in my instant clone environment, but then all of a sudden I was getting the "Failed to initialize the Snagit datastore" and the message is referencing the default local account from where I packaged it (c:\Users\local_account)appdata\local\temchsmith\snagit\datastore). I know I got rid of the predefined settings that were used for DEM. I was just in the initial stage of getting snagit for some users and I believe I ended up removing the bad registry values that was saved for these users or perhaps deleting the key altogether and letting it recreate.

Why would I feature this commercial company in a TechBits column? Because Snagit from TechSmith has long been my application of choice for screen capture and editing to create training materials. It is possible that the University of Florida was one of the first departments to have a multiple license agreement so Snagit could be installed on all PACS workstations and faculty computers for creating teaching files, presentations, and publications. There are other screen capture and editing programs out there, but for me, they do not measure up to Snagit. After capturing a screen or a region of interest from a computer screen, the user can edit the image, add text and color, add shapes and arrows, or erase parts of the image (for example, to remove patient identification). A captured image can be saved in almost any image format or sent directly to a word, excel, or powerpoint file, or it can be included in an Instant Message (IM), sent to an email address, or printed.
